THE PLAGUE
Coughing is a sign of weakness, they say. Anyone who starts to cough is forced to leave their cities, or die soon after. The Plague isn't kind to those it touches, leaving chaos and destruction in its wake. As we lose more of the ones we love, our cities are now separated and broken. It's everyone for one's self, and working with one another seems impossible at this point. With other cities closing their borders and ensuring no trespassers, peace is like a thin string, slowly snapping away as it stretches.
ELDUR
SUMMER I
Eldur is ravaged by the plague, prey is scarce and many kittens are left orphans.
🔥 ✦ Painting Lesson Maker Mimamedir holds a painting lesson with the kittens of Eldur, during this a commotion is raised outside and a handful of the kittens sneak away to watch Eldr, a seeker, get punished by The Phoenix and Fire for breaking their ration. With empty stomachs, the city is clearly tense. 🔥 ✦ Division Due to scarce prey, the kittens of Eldur are called open to step up and become novices a cycle early. Many are nervous but are up to the challenge. K’atek reveals their cards, hoping the gods had blessed them with these fresh faces. 🌺 Midsummer Midsummer Festival Begins! Stormr claims most of the wins during the celebration with Laguz claiming one as well! Midsummer ends rather peacefully. FALL I
Liv of Forseti visits Gunvald personally, informing him that the Plague has festered in Forseti. Tension rises further within the city as winter approaches, many are unsure of when their next meal will be. 🔥 ✦ Spirit of a Phoenix A funeral is held for Tove, daughter of Salomon and Raud. Salomon snaps, claiming that the young and seekers should be prioritized with the limited food they have rather than the old and weak. Gunvald claims that the elders are important to the city and therefore should be prioritized with their wisdom and service to Eldur. A great divide has begun festering among the city. The novices of Eldur are left with a few hares at their feet given to them by Salomon, with a very important decision to make. WINTER I
🌲 Winternights Due to severe blizzards, the Winternights Festival is postponed. All cats are confined to their tents during the storm. Once the storm had subsided, all cities gathered at Helgafell for the annual Winternights Festival. However, tensions are high as Forseti attends despite Eldur’s demand not to after bringing illness to the Midsummer festival. Numerous fights break out between the cities, Eldur admits to stealing prey from Stormr. Stormr and Laguz agree to forbid Eldur and Forseti from attending Winternights in the future. SPRING I Tensions continue to rise after Winternights, many felines falling ill or dying from starvation. Everyone is overworked, tired, and hungry. 🔥 ✦ Inner War Salomon disappears early in the morning with most of the seekers. When he returns, Salomon challenges Gunvald for the title of Phoenix. Many cats take their respective sides in the argument, and a rippling inner war breaks out. Many cats fight against their own friends and families. Gunvald calls for a retreat, and leaves to Atrid Outpost. The healers split between the two groups, claiming they are neutral so that they may heal their city to the best of their abilities. FORSETI
SUMMER I
Forseti is hit hard by the plague. Many kits are orphaned.
🌿 ✦ Myrk Lake The kittens are taken outside by the city's healers, Ketil, Asa, and Sixten. They are then taught about herbology at the beds of Myrk Lake. However, multiple kittens have gone missing, splitting the group into two.
🌿 ✦ Sowing Beginnings Fritjof, the only male Council Member, gathers the children to take them on a fieldtrip. They are informed that today would be the day where they choose what path they will pave through the city of Forseti. They will be planting their Pod Seeds; when they bloom, the color of the flower will determine which pod they will join. The group begins to plant their seeds, choosing which ones they feel called to. 🌺 Midsummer The Midsummer Festival is held. It was relatively peaceful aside from a few arguments. Stormr won most of the festival games but Laguz took one win. Midsummer ends peacefully. FALL I
Half a cycle after the Midsummer Festival was held Council member Hella fell ill. The Council and Healers believe she may have been sick while she attended the festival with the Plague, a highly contagious, deadly disease. A city wide vote is held to see if they should send word to the other cities to warn them that Hella may have been sick during the festival.
🌿 ✦ Council Trials A funeral is held in honor of Hella who passed away from the plague Forseti holds a trial to choose the next council member. Healer Kettil, Builders Selby and Elskar compete. By city vote Kettil is accepted into the Council. After the announcement one of the cats sent to inform the other cities of Hella's condition, Hunter Liv, returns. She brings a message from Eldur. Forseti is told not to attend the coming Winternights celebration. WINTER I
🌲 Winternights Due to severe blizzards, the Winternights Festival is postponed. SPRING I 🌿 ✦ Labyrinth Council members Ylva, Erica, Erling and Ragna bring all current novices to the base of Helgafell for a coming of age trial. They are tasked to split into their pods and navigate the tunnels under the mountain.

LAGUZ
SUMMER I
🐟 ✦ Kaldr Pond A swimming lesson went wrong for gen 1 when they realized the Tide would be watching from the side lines. Due to the Tide’s comments, and shared words between the kittens, the group went home with storm clouds over their head and a disappointed Orka. 🐟 ✦ Stone Garden Jarl from the Tide takes the kittens of Laguz out of camp to build a carin and final mark for Bo, a former city member who caught the plague and was sent into the ocean to prevent it from spreading. 🌺 Midsummer Midsummer Festival Begins! Stormr claims most of the wins during the celebration with Laguz claiming one as well! Midsummer ends rather peacefully. FALL I
🐟 ✦ Rite of Passage It is time for gen 1’s novices to have their trials, which prove where each novice should go. They’re tested on their strength, diving, weaving, and herbal knowledge while gen 2 has their own mock trials. Only a few would notice the fish carcasses by the shore before they would participate in their next trial, and even fewer would bring it to the attention of the adults watching them. The Tide would chat amongst themselves and discuss potential ranks for each individual novice of gen 1. It would be several days before they would learn of their ranks. WINTER I
🐟 ✦ Our Own Paths A successful day to prepare the novices of gen 2 for what would be expected of them during their official trials. The mock trials would derail once the novices find large indents in the sand, another hearing singing in the distance. None of them were able to convince their teachers that it might be something to worry about; instead told that it was nothing but strange currents causing odd shapes. SPRING I 🐟 ✦ Not For The Faint Of Heart Gen 2’s trials commence right after the announcement of gen 3’s teachers and a large group from the city would leave for the shore. Two out of three pass. 🐟 ✦ A Night of Dance Laguz gathers on the shore for a night of dance, festivities, and celebration towards the Blue Moon. There are plenty of games and dancing partners, but the real event is when the Tide announces pairings for those of age. Some are disappointed, but most are good natured about it, leaving the night to be finished with a dance between couples and city-mates. STORMR
SUMMER I
⚡ ✦ Quarantined
The plague has appeared in Stormr once again, causing unrest and a panic to ensure throughout the city. King Freyr orders that all children must be quarantined swiftly within the caves of Stormr's mountains. The children are taken there, alongside Princess Suvituuli, Princess Rota, and Prince Thor. The youngest of the heirs. Once the adults have safely quarantined them and closed off the cave entrance, they then fall asleep-- allowing the children to sneak off and explore the cave without permission. Prince Thor goes missing, and Princess Rota and Suvituuli quickly organize a kitten search party. Two groups split down two tunnels; the left tunnel and right tunnel.
⚡ ✦ Passing Clouds
Gollnir and Uglas Tasks The severity of the plague escalates in Stormr. After the loss of many lives, the kittens of Stormr can no longer stand idle and isolate themselves; the older kittens are allowed out of isolation (the cave) and are promoted to novices a cycle early in order to help contribute. Gollnir and Ugla, the teachers of Stormr, give the novices a variety of tasks in order to help around camp. Zora was executed secretly due to her failure to protect and guard Prince Thor. 🌺 Midsummer The Midsummer Festival is held. It was relatively peaceful aside from a few arguments. Stormr won most of the festival games but Laguz took one win. Midsummer ends peacefully. FALL I
Following Midsummer, despite Stormr’s increased caution, Queen Frida falls ill with the plague. After a failed attempt to heal the queen, the healers admit defeat and inform King Freyr that she is going to pass. Queen Frida passes soon after. ⚡ ✦ Strange Visitors Stormr is visited by a strange group of cats; the Guild, a group of cats that have been outcast by the cities and now spend their days traveling between them spreading news and gathering records. They share that Forseti had unintentionally attended Midsummer with a plague-sick cat, a potential cause of the queen’s demise. Princess Saga has fallen ill with the plague and is isolated in the palace. WINTER I
🌲 Winternights Due to severe blizzards, the Winternights Festival is postponed. SPRING I The royal family is noticeably sparse from the camp. Despite the healers’ best efforts, the plague continues to spread throughout the palace. All healthy cats, including the teachers, seers, and remaining princesses are evacuated from the palace. Leif and King Freyr, who are assumed ill, remain to be treated alongside the head healer Pilvi.
⚡ ✦ A Gift from Above Despite the city’s concern, the celebration is held. The king is nowhere to be seen, instead the celebration is hosted by his seer, Vidar. The entire city celebrates, dancing, painting, and participating in a wide variety of activities. However, tensions flare as clear disapproval of the celebration is voiced by many members of the city, stating that they shouldn’t be gathering and celebrating when their city members are dying. Arguments break out despite Vidar’s best effort for raised spirit. |
chapter ii
a world divided
Cities are increasingly divided, border conflicts are erupting, and tensions are mounting. Strange occurrences are being reported across the territory, and the cities are soon learning that the Plague isn't the only thing to be frightened of. Something is waiting for them, rising and advancing. They simply don't know what that is yet. Cities are compelled and pleading to unite, but will they be able to do so?
ELDUR
SUMMER II
🌺 Midsummer
Eldur arrived split between the brothers; one group with Salomon and the other with Gunvald. But outside of that, Midsummer played out as it would, the cities participating in begrudging peace. The games played out the way they would, until they were interrupted by a couple of new strangers; two outcast siblings called Notti and Dagen. They tell the city cats about strange events that were soon supposed to unfold, because the veil between the mortals and the gods was tearing. The same night, cats experienced strange dreams, finding themselves waking up with creatures with their eye colours; their familiars. FALL II
🔥 ✦ Plan of Action Gunvald and his group of Eldur cats returned to the city, Salomon demanding that they each bow as they enter. The leads (Valkyrie, Audhild and Logi) were stripped of their duties, each being given to a cat Salomon considered loyal, Eir for the makers, Aligok for Embers and Eldr for Seekers. Logi, however, was pushed up the ranks and became The Fire. As a part of his first order of business, Salomon hatched a plan to ambush Njord outpost and claim it for their city. Despite many’s lack of satisfaction with the idea, they followed The Phoenix’s orders regardless. During the preparation for the upcoming fight, Salomon switches Dagny and Alotte’s positions, making them his messengers instead, after finding out from one of his torches how Alotte and Dagny had spoken out of turn. They successfully attack Njord outpost, defending it even as Stormr sent for reinforcements to help with reclaiming it. But Eldur came out victorious, even if they had many fatally injured or even killed during the fight. With tensions high, Salomon calls for reinforcements from Einn outpost. SPRING III
🔥 ✦ Keen eyes and Ears Instructed by the Phoenix, Akin led a small patrol towards the new border of their territory, where their group split up on discovering Stormr scent across the border, and each group finding themselves face to face with a Stormr group of their own. When they regrouped they found Akin dead at a Stormr talon’s feet (Isarok), who had crossed over the border. Eldur took turns in taking him down and Isarok soon fell to the ember sword, a skirmish breaking out among the two cities. Much to Eldur’s displeasure, Gymir, an ex-laguz cat ,showed up as aid to the Stormr patrol, Eldur disgusted by the allyship. SUMMER III
Notti and Dagen make their appearance, seeking out Salomon and requesting his permission to take a look at something in The Leap. Salomon however denies their request, demanding that they leave their territory. Unbeknownst to the rest of the city, one of their healers joins them on their journey, even after being previously denied permission to leave. WINTER III As Haustr came to an end, Salomon called Eldur together, inviting him to join him on the final night to feast and dance, and remember those that were no longer among them. Notti showed up on her own, with a single escort and instructions on talking to the city regarding their familiars. She instead started handing out necklaces with a rune of protection, saying they were to keep them all safe, eventually filling a bowl with them for cats to take as she was escorted out of the city. 🔥 ✦ Something Wicked This Way Comes The cats that took the necklaces woke up one night to restless sleep and terrible dreams. Those that didn’t have the necklaces were left in a deep sleep they could not wake from. There was a strange sound of laughter that hovered around the city, but disappeared as a few ghostly spirits passed through, several members leaving to go with them and see where they led them to while the rest stood guard. Those that left were led by Níðhöggr and the spirits to The Leap, where they found structures of an abandoned podium and several seats and pictures of the Gods themselves with orbs next to them. Some took scrolls and other trinkets they could carry from the area, while others preferred to leave the place untouched, soon being ushered back to the city as the sun rose again. Those that stayed behind were quickly attacked by vicious creatures of the night known as Mares, the dark beasts making haste in attacking the group left and right, leaving many injured or even those that were in a deep sleep still, dead. They fought until the sun began to rise, the creatures hastily retreating into the shadows, leaving just the confused camp-goers looking at each other and their wounds. FORSETI

The same night, cats experienced strange dreams, finding themselves waking up with creatures with their eye colours; their familiars. FALL II
🌿 ✦ Runic Grace The third generation of novices (Bengt, Lif, Tusmørke and Syn) had reached the age of receiving their gifted runes, which the whole city celebrated. But everything went quickly downhill from there; the torches and fires went out and the runes that were painted on the novices glowed green, the death sign Yr masking the runes that were previously there. The city fell into a panic, the council doing what they could to calm the Forsetians, proclaiming they would visit Jord’s shrine and seek some answers. With the group Erling and Ragna led the younger generation to Jord’s shrine, where they found it desecrated. The shrine stone was cracked, Yr painted over it and animal bones and corpses littering it all over. Erling commands that they all remain quiet about what they had found at the shrine, sealing the area off from future visits. With this discovery, and Forseti starting to fall to fear, they invite cats that were trained at the outpost are invited to the main city, after training there for most of their novice-hood. SUMMER III
🌿 ✦ Investigation With all the happenings in Forseti, Rura embarks on a solo mission back to Helgafell in search of clues, hoping to find a way to help the city. She discovers runes covering the wall, the words and symbols urging them to leave, and believes it to be Hel warning them. Before she could investigate further however, Asiarpak and Osborn discovered her, the two mollies getting into a spat on what to do, eventually Rura leading them to the field where the broken butterfly wings were, only to find nothing there. But it didn’t stop there. Screams from Elskar lead the city to discover Vidher’s dead body surrounded by white petals, dipped in her blood. Prey animals littered around her corpse in a circle, with bones and skulls nearby. On the trees, the runes of Ehwaz, Isa, Hagalaz, and Yr were painted with her blood as well. A veil lay across her face, and on her bodice, the rune of YR was carved into her pelt. The scent of yarrow was fresh in the air. The group began to investigate, finding out other clues regarding her death but there was no scent or trace of who might have done it. The second time it was Audr and the last of Forseti’s elders, Nerthus, Sirkka and Warda standing by the bodies. The setup was much the same The third time it was only Warda alone that screamed for help, Aslaug, Misteltein and Embla rushing out of the city to aid who might have attacked her and who attacked their mother. Liv was found dead with multiple stab wounds, and the scene placed down much the same as it was once before. The three of them were found by Erling and taken into questioning, Erling eventually turning her attention to Warda, now fully healed outside the healer’s tent. With the proclamation to come forth if anyone had any suspicions of who the murderer might have been, it didn’t take all that many days for Erling to stand up and condemn the traitor. Warda herself. She laughed in the face of the council, revealing that all her work had been for Hel and even calling out the four cursed individuals as chosen by Hel. Her rune stone was brought forth and burned, Warda sentenced to exile, with the warning to kill on sight should she be seen on Forseti’s grounds again. WINTER III With morale as low as it was, forseti decided to host the festival of light, a time filled with singing, dancing and games. During the final dance members across the city started feeling uneasy, a familiar voice filling their ears. It would state:
Not long after these events had occurred, Sixten, Lofn, Radulfr, and Ebbe had vanished, no traces of them in the territory found. 🌿 ✦ Whispers of Shadows On the night of the blood moon, Forseti was awoken by the sounds of screaming, in the city trapped inside by a wall of flame. The cult of Hel taunted them, and took their members out one by one. They pointed out Sixten and Ebbe, left hanging above them, Sixten just barely alive as he voiced words of encouragement before dying. In another part of town, Asiarpak pulled Frode behind a burning tent where she killed her. Berglijot attacked Tusmørke, the novices running to his aid, while Debora injured Ylva, and killed Astridr, as the lead warrior stood tall to protect her council. With the flames licking at their roots, one of the trees fell, creating an opening for everyone to escape through. Most made a run for it, but Erling and Grimur stayed behind to fight.

They tell the city cats about strange events that were soon supposed to unfold, because the veil between the mortals and the gods was tearing. The same night, cats experienced strange dreams, finding themselves waking up with creatures with their eye colors; their familiars. FALL II
🐟 ✦ A Funeral On finding Eivor, K’inok and Gunhild dead, the city had a funeral made for them, much of the city attending it. But as their goodbyes were given, the procession was interrupted by the arrival of a leopard seal pup, the creature eager to make the city of cats its next meal. Pikes were called to battle and the rest forced to flee. Ruaidhri, hearing Firth in the distance, runs to her aid. With Agnaar succumbing to his fate against the seals, those left at the city were given a chance to choose to speak against or with the law being changed, that would allow Ruaidhri to take over as Laguz’s Voice in place of Firth, Agnaar’s natural born heir. The majority voted to change it, letting Ruaidhri take over as the head of Laguz, and naming Magni as his Will. With the misfortune that had befallen the city, Laguz called for reinforcements from Mountain Outpost. FALL III Life continued in Laguz, the city growing restless as cats on patrols began to go missing, with no trace of them. Patrols were sent out to look for them, but nothing was ever found. The city continued to grow outside of that, until Renfrew came running in one day, screaming that the seals had returned and grown since then. WINTER III
Laguz’s communication with the outposts dwindled to none, the occurrence causing the city concern. On top of that a strange heavy fog had settled over the city with a very harsh cold, making it hard to work in and a strange and gross stench flowing through it. Fish began to vanish, around the territory, making it difficult to keep the city fed. Groups would set out to find any and come back frozen, and some would never return. Those that would come back, would mention the odd silhouette that tracked them in the territory and strange flickering lights in the distance. The city is alerted to a loud scream coming from the storage, the discovery of dead fish, still wiggling as though they were alive, despite their heads being missing. Magni demanded that remaining supply be burned to stop the spread of whatever this might have been, while he took a sample to show to The Voice. He proclaimed that Laguz will only eat fresh prey for the time being. 🐟 ✦ The Rot Comes Knocking On the night of the blood moon, the strange occurrences that had happened around Laguz, amplified. From the depths of the dark ocean, rose cats and seals once previously dead, attacking the city. Ruaidhri moved to fight back, commanding Magni to lead Laguz to the tunnels. Some stayed behind while most fled, the tunnels being sealed off with a boulder to keep the draugr from following the rest. At his command, Magni issues a tallying of the city, to see who was still with them and who was gone. When all was said and done, the city was allowed to rest and see to their injured, while Magni picked out a new Will, Masik, as well as appointing Laguz’s new leads; Uliok, Yulla and Ubah. STORMR

⚡ ✦ Crowning King Freyr and Crown Prince Leif end up passing from the plague that struck the city hard, leaving King Freyr’s next eldest daughter; Princess Rota to take his place. The citizens of Stormr spend their mornings finalising the finishing touches on Princess Rota’s crowning. The ceremony was a traditional practice with the Princess being crowned her antlers and her new title— Queen Rota. Just as the ceremony was drawing to a close, news hits the capital that Eldur had begun an ambush on the Raptors and novices residing at the Njord Outpost. Reinforcements were immediately sent out to chase them off, but despite their advantage— they lose the outpost and are forced to return home to lick at their wounds. With tensions high, Stormr calls for reinforcements from the River Outpost. SPRING III
⚡ ✦ Harsh Realities With morale low, a group was sent out onto a patrol along their shared border with Eldur. The patrol consisted of mostly Talon and a single Raptor; Isarok, Orm, Atti, Reginleif & Finke. Along the way, the group found themselves split from each other and each faced with Eldur cats from their own respective patrol. After both patrols regrouped, they found out that the Eldur Ember; Akin had been murdered by Stormr’s talon; Isarok. In a quick motion, the remaining Eldur patrol took turns in swiping attacks at Isarok. Unfortunately, his fight with Akin left him wounded and the Stormr patrol were not able to save him before being struck down by a sword. Soon enough as chaos quickly begun to rise once more, Eldur reinforcements show up and outnumber the Stormr patrol. That is until a guild member, ex-laguz member— one who Stormr were already familiar with — entered the fray. The patrol leave battered and bruised and whilst Shams mourns the loss of their partner— the consisting patrol are called under Princess Suvituuli’s orders. Without a word, they stood before the stoic princess and presented the events that took place. After a brief discussion, the princess makes the patrol swear to never tell a soul that Eldur had been the one to kill Isarok and that it’d been an eagle. A mere accident where Isarok was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Meanwhile, Queen Rota invites Gymir into Stormr’s ranks. This causes trouble amongst the public as they are not too happy with sharing their camp with an ex-Laguz cat. FALL III
And as tensions rose amongst the other public, it becomes clear that a small group consisting of Raptors are displeased by the decisions their new Queen has made, including a rationing system due to the loss of territory. Led by ring-leader Torgny, the group of talons rose up to fight against her ruling and in attempt to take the Queen out— Princess Suvituuli was caught in the crossfire and shot in the chest by one of Torgny’s arrows. A failed miss, one that would cost their own lives. The city erupts into chaos as cats rush to protect their Queen. The city wrangled the traitors up to stand before Vidar, who sent them out beyond the leap— an inevitable death. The city fell into a numb silence. WINTER III Despite the recent affairs, the Queen announced that they would still be honoring tradition and holding the Winter’s Solstice festival. A bonfire was built in the center of the city to signify the festival where once the event draws to a close, a sacrifice will be made to the gods and their ancestors. Queen Rota sacrifices her past self— burning her scarf and a small woven bracelet. ⚡ ✦ Concealed in Snow During the night of a thunderstorm, Stormr was woken up by the sound of mournful cries, and one of the elders found dead. As thunder rattled the grief-struck city, the ground shuddered with an avalanche threatening to take the city down with it. The city fell into panic, cats retreating towards the caverns or swept away the mound of snow and rock if they didn’t escape quickly enough.
They all regrouped at the palace, where they counted how many were left and seeing who was missing. They were given the chance to rest and recover from their injuries, and wait until the dangers of the avalanche were behind them, so they may return home. |
