I. General Rules
Age Restrictions
Bifrosts will remain as an 18+ group, due to heavy, recurring themes that appear throughout the course of the story. We do have one exception for a period of six months. Lying about your age will result in a permanent ban. Sensitive Topics
Political topics and all political views must be kept out of the group, for the sake of not stirring up arguments or debates on those topics. Keep debatable or opinionated topics out of Bifrosts, as they have a tendency to build resentment and arguments amongst members. Topics such as eating disorders, self-harm, physical abuse, sexual abuse, giving birth, and suicide are not allowed within Bifrosts. Mentions of these topics will be deleted and the poster given a warning. We have some topics that we request be content tagged and spoilered for the comfort of our members: blood, gore, needles, trypophobia, arachnophobia, images of teeth & eyeballs, eye straining images, strobing and flashing images, and vomiting. These topics need to have a content tag at the beginning of the post stating what is going to be included in the rest of the post. Spoilering can be done by adding || on both sides of a word or sentence. We have some topics that we request be content tagged for the comfort of our members: menstruation, pregnancy. These topics do not require a spoiler, but they need to be tagged at the beginning of the post. Artwork
Please do not post over others in the artwork channels! We request that every member at least reacts or comments on the artwork before posting their own. Members must also check and ensure an hour has passed before posting over another. Drama
This group is a healthy, thriving community. Don't speak of drama in this group or gossip about other members. If you have an issue with someone, do not confront them about said issue, please speak with an Admin to have it resolved. Never dog-pile, shun, exclude, or be disrespectful and rude to anyone. Treat people the way you would like to be treated, and be kind to everyone. |
Expected Behavior
Everyone in the group and everyone in the Bifrosts Discord server (members and visitors) are expected to be kind, courteous and inclusive to others. Bifrosts has a zero tolerance policy for rudeness, bullying, slurs, and harassment. If you experience any of these issues, please open a ticket and speak to the Administrative team to have the issue resolved. Conversations about Bifrosts and its members that occur outside of our main Discord are subject to some level of moderation. This is to ensure a Bifrosts member is not able to harm another Bifrosts member in DMs or private group chats without facing consequences. As we run this group for fun and want to have our members feel safe and supported, the team reserves the right to remove someone from the group for any behavior the team feels is disrespectful or unwanted. DMing Moderators and Admins
Please do not DM a moderator or admin about issues or complaints within the group. We have a ticket system in place for any Bifrosts related issues that need to be addressed. If you need to DM an admin, please ask for permission before-hand or ask if there's anyone you can chat with in help. Please know that tickets do have the whole team in them, but as a team we strive to make everyone comfortable — we would never dogpile on a member in our tickets, and always try to be friendly and kind to our members. Mini-Modding
Is not allowed in this group. Bifrosts staff will answer any and all questions asked in the help channel. Do not answer for us, enforce rules for us, or anything of that nature. If a member has made a mistake in any channel, never correct them for us. Bifrosts will be a safe, fun environment for all of it’s members! You can definitely help other members if they request help from you or ask questions to you, but please don’t do anything past that as it can create a hostile, tense environment as well as be embarrassing for the member. Bifrosts Staff
To be as transparent as possible, we want to let all of our members know that admin characters do not require activity checks and moderator activity checks are half priced! Additionally, moderator and admin characters do not take up a slot for openings in compensation for all of the work and effort that goes on behind the scenes. |
II. Character Rules
Character Age
All characters in Bifrosts are required to start as kittens. There may be special events or openings for older characters, but the players joining will typically be of kitten-age. This is in place due to the complexer nature of this world, and because it is more engaging to allow players to grow and interact with the world as their own characters do. Character Designs
Bifrosts has some limitations in regards to character designs. Every city has it’s own unique color palettes, markings, and eye-colors. The majority of openings will run on family-tryouts, whether they be by NPCs or other members. We ask that you stick with the color palettes and the markings and colors of the parents. However, we do try our best to work with everyone and be flexible, so we encourage inquiries about character appearances in the discord server. Romance
Kittens are allowed to crush on each other as young children innocently would, but please ensure you are keeping their romantic feelings for eachother as naive and faultless as it is. Kittens and Novices are allowed to have puppy-crushes on one another, but nothing with serious romantic intentions. A puppy crush is defined as an informal term for feelings of romantic or platonic love. It is named for its resemblance to the adoring, worshipful affection that may be felt by a puppy. We do not encourage or support young children having sexual relations or serious romantics with one another. Appropriation
If a player desires to create a character who has a mental or physical condition, it is required that the member opens a ticket with the admin team before-hand. We require this to ensure the player will be played correctly, to remove any aspects of offensive or stereotypical nature from the character before they are created. A majority of physical conditions are listed in the shop for this purpose. If you do not see a physical condition that you would like your character to have, please inquire about said condition in a ticket. Members may not have a physical condition without approval, to confirm their character will be played sensitively. Purchasing an ailment does not always guarantee that your character will have it. Some bans may have inflictions associated with it, and those ailments will be confirmed in a ticket. Such as Albinism, which is a condition that causes lack of pigmentation in the skin, fur, and eyes. Albinism can cause vision problems, crossed eyes, rapid eye movements, and light sensitivity, all which will be addressed in a ticket. Becoming a lead in your city
In Bifrosts, players have the potential to hold a significant rank in their city. In order to become a lead in your city, you must meet some requirements:
Cat of the Month
Every month, the team will RNG a cat of the month. This character will receive a +100 coin gift and a randomized gift from this list that may be used once. The item may be kept as an accessory, even after it has been used!
|
Character Personality
Please refrain from your character being idealistic and flawless. Everyone has flaws, which is what makes us living beings and unique in our own ways. Do not encourage your character to go against their city’s customs and ideals, and please stick to their cities values. While we do understand that some morals may clash with our own, keep in mind that these characters do not live in our world, and have different taboos that they grew up with. What’s wrong to us may not be wrong to them, and they may not understand that it is wrong. This group aims to be morally grey; not everything is set as black and white or good and evil. There is always that grey in the middle. Be aware of this goal and try to encourage your own characters to not be set in their definitions of ‘good’ and ‘bad’! Nontraditional Behavior
Characters who do not align with the world-building or cultural values of the cities will require a plot purchase and further discussion in their ticket regarding the following issues:
Any messages posted with anything listed above without prior approval will be deleted & voided until further discussion, so that we can properly plot and review the characters actions and how it will impact the city and the characters around them. Mental and Physical Conditions
In Bifrosts, we do not allow any sort of psycological disorder, such as mania, psychopathy, or sociopathy in our group. These are sensitive topics, and they must be played with the upmost care and respect to prevent misrepresentation of these disorders. As well as to prevent misrepresentation and negative, harmful stereotypes from being reinforced. As such, if a member or visitor has an inquiry about a mental or physical condition, they must do their research and open a ticket for approval, sharing what they found and how they would accurately portray their character. Additionally, in Bifrosts, we do not allow self-harm or suicide towards your character, as it is a very sensitive topic and not something we wish to see explored in this group. Scars
Characters who are eligible to receive scar(s) must have them drawn, approved, and uploaded to their deviantart application within one month of the event that the scar(s) were received to apply them to their character. You can get scars approved in our design approvals channel in our main Discord. |
III. Literature Rules
Respect Boundaries
If a player informs you that they are uncomfortable with where a roleplay is headed, how other characters regard their character, or are uneasy with any actions done by your character, discontinue what you are doing and compromise with the player. With that said, it is never allowed to injure, control, or kill someoone else’s character without their clear, spoken permission, and without notifying the admins. We want everyone to be comfortable in this group and at ease around one another. Please help us keep it this way. Ensure you communicate with one another if you find yourself unhappy, or communicate with the admin team if you cannot bring yourself to. Character Interactions
It is important to note that a character’s dislike for your character does not mean that the member dislikes you. Do not take the feelings of other characters to heart, as they are completely fictional and do not represent the member’s feelings towards you. But if you believe it is targeted and unfounded for their character to dislike yours, and you feel as if it is a reflection of their dislike for you instead, please open a ticket to discuss this with the admin team with screenshots prepared. We would be more than happy to resolve the issue and encourage kind behavior. Character Development and Personal Plots
Bifrosts encourages personal plots and character development for it’s members. Characters can and will change over-time, so please don’t fret about your biography being inaccurate or not reflecting your character. Just ensure you are consistent in their personality and that you’re playing a character that you enjoy writing! If you find yourself not liking your own character anymore, please open a ticket to discuss what you can change with the admin team. We enjoy discussing and plotting with your characters. Please open a ticket to ask about personal plots for your character, so we can work with you and help incorporate your ideas into the world. Bifrosts supports any character development or plots that you may have, and we’ll always try to work with our members to incorporate their ideas! |
Literature: Rumor and Roleplay Channels
God Modding and Dice Rolling.
We ask that there is no god-modding in this group. No one wants their character to get injured or die, but it can happen. We ask that you keep all out of character interactions away from in-character. Some things may be revealed to some people, but not others! Please do not have your character know about those instances when they have never discovered them in-game. We ask that you remain conscious of your character's behavior, personality, and current status in-game. We incorporate Dice-Rolls into the group to prevent God-Modding and to keep this a fun, dice reliant environment! If you're about to fight someone, tussle, complete a challenge, compete, etc, please use dice-rolls. You don't always have to do this if you don't want to, but it's highly encouraged and used throughout every public-event. During group-events it is required, and actions will not be completed unless rolled for. During events, you are allowed to roll dice once per character and do one roleplay post per character if you have multiple characters participating in the same event. The team asks this not be used for meta-gaming or god-modding, where you use one of your character's rolls to aid or save your other character. This behavior will be monitored, and if it occurs it will be stopped and deleted. Character Death and Consequences
Your character may die in this group. There will be consequences for your actions. Your character will take risks. Your character's actions should be considered heavily and you should be prepared for your character to be maimed or die depending on what they do. Bifrosts admins will inform a member if their character’s actions are impacting their life negatively, or if there is a risk of death. After that warning, it is the members choice to continue down that path or stray from it. If a player’s character passes, they are not removed from the group. They will be asked if they’d like to make a new character instead. However, please do not kill off your character for the sake of creating a new one. If you are unhappy with your character, please open a ticket to discuss new possibilities with the admin team. Half of all coins fall into the new characters or existing characters bank, but items will all be deleted. |
IV. Activity Rules
Character Activity Requirements
Bifrosts has two activity requirements. When characters age from kit-hood to novice-hood, 100 coins are removed from the player's bank. From novice-hood to adult-hood, 200 coins will be removed from their bank. Coins can only be earned through literature or artwork submissions, with different amounts being earned for the amount of words, type of artwork, or type of literature. This is in place to ensure members have used their characters, and that they belong in the world and have continued to thrive in Fyrstheim. If a member fails to meet these requirements, their character will become sick and will be unable to age-up with the rest of the players. If their character is sick for a total of three age-ups, their character will die. If the member opens a ticket to discuss their inactivity before-hand with the admin team via a ticket, their character will be given an extension, regardless of the situation. We do not enjoy killing off characters or removing membership status from a member, but it does happen to ensure that the group is running smoothly and so that a spot may be freed for another player. |
Leaving Policy
If a player desires a hiatus or wants to leave the group, please make a ticket to discuss the leave period with the admin team. We require a ticket to be made if you desire to do either of these things to ensure the character is incorporated within the world correctly. If you decide to leave the group and do not inform us of your character’s state, we will assume you do not mind what happens to your character and do with them what we will. If a member leaves the group discord without notifying the admin team through a ticket, that member will be considered to have left the group. In this instance, any characters of that member will be killed off immediately. |
V. Strike System
Consequences
This group runs on a strike system. We state this now to be as transparent and honest with our members, so there are no misunderstandings and to ensure players know how the group is run before-hand.
If a rule is broken, the admin team will decide together if the user’s actions warrant a strike. Warnings may also be issued if the team believes its the best course of action. Once a decision has been made, we will open a ticket with the user and inquire about the rule breaking before giving them a strike or warning. We will never kick a member from the group without a proper explanation towards them and the other members. Bifrosts aims to be inclusive and transparent, and as such, we will not kick anyone from the group unless it is absolutely necessary.

VI. EVENT RULES
Consequences
Events have the potential to be lethal for your character should you choose to fight enemies. Please keep this in mind when making your character's choices as you cannot take actions back. If you actively choose to put your character in a dangerous situation when fleeing is an option, and you do not choose to have your character escape, and said character dies, you will not be able to make a new character immediately as you would if your character died through RNG and unlucky rolls trying to escape.
Rolling
You can roll once per round- you must ask the associated team member who is running the event if you can roll first, and please be specific and detailed as to what you are rolling for. If you have multiple characters in the same event, you can roll once per character. You are allowed two roll alterations per event per character. This can include, but is not limited to: rerolls, item usage, and advantage purchase.
If you roll, in order for your roll to count, you must also make a roleplay post. Dice rolls that are done but have no associated roleplay post will not count and will not occur.
Posting
You can post once per round, once per character if you have multiple characters in the same event.
Disadvantage
When an event includes a fight and your character is injured below half of their full HP amount, you must roll with disadvantage for all rolls for that character for as long as your character is below half health. If a healer heals your character above half HP during the event, you will no longer be required to roll with disadvantage.
Volunteer Events
Some events are volunteer events, of which being included in these events are the result of you choosing to enter your character into an RNG pool or otherwise to be chosen to participate. Please keep in mind Volunteer Events may have different rules and guidelines when compared to Main Events, and what goes in a Volunteer Event may not go in a Main Event and vice versa.
Hiatus
During a Main Event, if you go on hiatus during the event, your character will be immediately removed from the event and they will be safe from enemies and disasters. However, during a Volunteer Event, if you go on hiatus during the event your character will not be immediately removed from the event unless you specifically state to the team that you want your character removed. If you do not state to the team you want your character removed from a Volunteer Event because you are going on hiatus, your character will remain in the event and will be included in disasters, group rolls, and enemy attacks.
Variation
Not all Main Events are ran the same. It is up to the team's discretion per event to decide what rolls, posts, and choices are allowed to be made. What dice roll passes in one Main Event may be a failure in another, and what is allowed in one Main Event may not be allowed in another. Please keep this in mind when you are participating in Main Events that historical rules and guidelines in prior events may not always apply to the event you're currently in. When in doubt, always ask the associated team member who is running the event if you can do something or not.
