Bifrosts is inspired by Iceland, and the territory resembles the country fairly similarly. One major inspiration for the territory is the national forest in East-Iceland, known as Hallormsstaðaskógur. It is a natural birch forest, with plenty of pine-trees. There's waterfalls, geysers, black sand beaches, and natural hot-springs located throughout the territory.
The climate is cold, windy, and cloudy for most of the year due to the high latitude, and it can receive cold winds from the north, but it's also tempered by the ocean surrounding it. The weather and temperature is unpredictable and fierce, causing some of the harshest conditions for these characters to fight to survive in. But this doesn't just affect the characters, it affects the wildlife who also call Fryrstheim home. Which makes it all the more important to watch out for your city mates, as death is not inevitable.

PredatorsThe majority of Fyrstrheim's predators are made of artic foxes, which are a native terrestrial mammal to Iceland. Yet Iceland is bountiful in birds of prey, such as sea eagles, white-tailed eagles, seagulls, falcons, hawks, and kites. Rarely will the felines ever encounter a polar bear, due to the fact that they do not have a permanent population in Iceland. Another uncommon predator would be seals, but depending on the size and aggression of the breed of seal, cats may be the last thing on their menu.

PreyFyrstheims prey within the territory fluctuates, and mainly consists of rodents. Such as mice, rats, rabbits, hares, pikas, small birds, weasels, minks, and a variety of other species. But there are no squirrels, frogs, or snakes, as Iceland does not inhabit them.
Minks and weasels will be harder and dangerous to take down, and may require a large team of felines. |
WeatherFyrstheim has four seasons, but sometimes it doesn't feel that way, since the weather is erratic and prone to change. However, there's plenty of windy and stormy weather on this continent, and there's plenty of rainfall.
However, it can also get incredibly warm. This is partly due to the Gulf Stream that flows along the west and south of Fyrstheim, bringing warmth from the Caribbean. The warmth also means that the mild Atlantic air will get mixed with the cold Artic air, causing sudden and frequent weather changes. But another reason for Fystheim's warmth is because it sits upon a hot-spot. The land is filled with geothermal activity, with plenty of hot springs, geysers, mud pools, (minor) volcanoes, and occasional earthquakes. The temperature is pretty mild throughout the year, and the change between summer and winter changes isn't as drastic. However, you can wake up to a sunny, warm day, only for it to turn into a raging blizzard. The unpredictable weather could be anyone's downfall if they cannot find shelter. |
SeasonsSummer Climate
Typically in Fyrstheim, summer starts in June and ends in September. While the temperature ranges from 40F (5C) and 58F (15C), with the Midnight sun (where daylight is nearly 24 hours in a row) at the very tail-end of it. However, during summer it will not get dark, as sunlight will be plentiful starting at 21 hours in June, and ending at 13 hours in September. Fall Climate Fyrstheim's erratic weather patterns will start to show during these months. Starting during September until December is when the fall season arrives, the temperature drastically drops. The temperatures ranges from 30F (0C) and 50F (10C), gradually getting colder as December approaches. At the end of September, daylight will vary from 13 hours to 4 hours as the months go by. Winter Climate The coldest temperatures start during winter. From December to March, they'll drop to around 30F (-1C) over the season, but can drop to further extremes. Snow and strong wind can arrive at a moment's notice. Daylight is a luxury during this season, with only around 5 hours of daylight per day. During December, only 4 hours will be available, but at the start of March it'll be 12 hours. During Winter, the Northern Lights will also be visible. Spring Climate The rebirth and break from the harsh winter starts during March until June. Spring is when flowers bloom and birds return from their migration patterns. The temperature will begin to warm up, varying from 38F (3C) to 54F(12C). Daylight will be plentiful, from 12 hours to 21 hours at the beginning of June. |
Territory
The terrain differs per city, as it can suddenly turn rocky and mountainous, to lush deep forests. Along the coast line, you may find the occasional soft sandy beaches, or the unique black sand beach. But if you turn towards the north east, you'll discover large towering mountains with deep bountiful valleys.
HELGAFELLHelgafell translates into Holy Mountain. It is a neutral ground, where all of the cities meet to trade goods and knowledge with one another.
|
Einn lakeEinn Lake, meaning One Lake, is the center of the neutral grounds. It is one of the largest lakes on the territory. Sometimes, the lake radiates a slight warmth. The waters are typically luke-warm.
|
Eldur CityA vast expanse of mountain ranges surround a bountiful meadow, with a large crystalline lake in the center. The trees are commonly beech, with pine mixed in-between. However, they also offer a wide-variety of cave systems and tunnels, that wind beneath their city and dig through the mountains. Along the outskirts of the camp reside natural hot-springs, due to the large amount of mountains nearby.
|
Laguz CityResiding by the coast-line with soft, sandy beaches, and sparse grass, Laguz is offered a variety of terrains and water sources. Their camp lays in a huddled formation of rocks, dirt, and burrows. There's sparser trees in this terrain, which consist of mostly beech with an occasional pine. However, just because they reside at the coast doesn't restrict them from having nearby mountainous structures.
|
Forseti CityDense, lush trees cover the expanse of the territory. The sun is not a common luxury in Forseti's domain, as it struggles to break through the thick trees. Their foliage consists of pine and beech, with the occasional birch, aspen, and rowan. They have a variety of rivers, brooks, and streams, as well as an inconsistent terrain. However, their land is comparatively flat towards the other cities, as the closest mountains are around 20 miles away.
|
Stormr CityThis terrain is the most varied, rocky, and dangerous. They reside in the high mountains, where snow, gravel, and stone is not uncommon. There are a variety of pine trees, albeit a bit sparse as the altitude increases. Below the mountains reside a small valley with a lake and a variety of denser trees. But felines of Stormr prefer to remain in the rocky, hazardous terrain as that is where they are most agile.
